Social Media
The struggles with social media are many. However even though I do use Social Media and I believe there are solid reasons to use it. I also would caution people to not think everything is so happy in other peoples lives. We tend to post all the positives regarding our lives and can give an unreality setting for how we are. We then compare our lives to those that are making these post and then we can fall into the trap that our lives stink. I find this particularly true for children. This is one of the reason I do not agree with kids have Social media until they are mature enough to understand this.
Just recently my feelings were hurt when I saw a post from a friend who had a gathering at their house and we know everyone who was there and consider everyone either a friend or good acquaintance. We were not invited. I did not know why we were not invited, but we weren’t. I was upset. Of course I made a point to comment ” Nice Picture”. The funny thing is next time we saw the host they made a point to tell me that it was a spur of the moment gathering and that it wasn’t a big deal but man did they put several posts on Social Media about the big deal it was.
Another post one of kids were hurt simply because the post showed friends all together yet my kid was not their. Yeah I had to work through that one.
The funny thing is that growing up we did not have this outlet and therefore I did not know when these things were happening and therefore my feelings didn’t get hurt nor did I find myself comparing my life to theirs.
I think if people posted all things that really were going on we would get a better understanding of who they really are and then we would see that everyone has the ups and downs of life.
