Be authentic

What does that mean. I have been hearing this for a few years now in all levels of organizations. I agree we should all be authentic- do what we say and say what we do. I think it is just that simple. So I find it interesting that we have to make a point to share that. I know why we need too or at least I think I know why. I begin to blame it on many of leaders, corporations and other organizations that have failed us because they were not authentic. Recently I saw a survey conducted from a corporation and a question asked – Do you believe that the people and corporation you work for has your best interest? Overwhelmingly the answer was no. I ask why do you work there. I also have seen read and unfortunate been a part of organizations that were not authentic with me.   We also see social media and I believe that maybe 10% of people on social media are really authentic. Most post only the great events and give a false sense of life. So now we need to teach being authentic.  Lets just get back to some good old basics. Don’t lie , don’t cheat, don’t put others down. I think it may be just that simple.
